RITES of SPRING 30th Year Anniversary

We gather once again to celebrate the sacred Earth and the turning of the seasons as the maples and birches grow green in the Berkshire Hills, the streams rush full down the mountainside and our hearts fill with the promise of new beginnings.
Together we will weave the web of community spanning many generations, traditions and life-styles around a shared core of deeply-held Earth spirituality.
The sacred fire will burn as the drums echo the rhythms of life and the dancers join the sparks flying toward the darkened sky.
Stimulating conversations will continue from one day to the next and children's laughter will sparkle in the wooded hills. Lasting friendships will form and grow as we come together in our learning, our music, our ritual and our joy.

Grandmothers of the Eight Directions

This ceremony taps into the oracular power of women through shamanic journeying to 8 different archetypal wisdom grandmothers. Each Grandmother holds a different kind of wisdom.
Grandmother Star Nations, Grandmother Medicine Woman, Grandmother Sun, Grandmother Midwife, Grandmother Moon, Grandmother Shaman, Grandmother Earth, and Grandmother Death each have their own sacred wisdoms and distinct styles to guide the women who chose to journey to them.
In the ceremony, women chose which grandmother they need guidance from, choose a question to ask her, and ask for some wisdom be imparted to them for the women who have chosen to journey together. Then the women are guided on an experience that can change lives! Part of the beauty of this ceremony is hearing the wisdom of the grandmothers coming from each of the women present. Welcome to Fire Family Gathering! We invite you to join us, the Family of Fire, on a journey of transformation and growth. For four amazing days and three other-worldly nights we will soar with the Phoenix Reborn as we weave a powerful web of community.
Fire Family is an annual gathering of like-minded individuals, being held this year among the Redwoods in the beautiful Santa Cruz, California mountains. Together we create a sacred place for deep play. The heart center of the gathering is the all-night intentional Fire Circles where people of many paths join together in Sacred Space. With ash on our skin, smoke in our hair, and flames in our eyes, our rhythms, songs and chants ring from the redwoods.
Fire Family Gathering is safe and sacred container for celebration, magic, transformation, ecstatic dance, and heartfelt drumming. An exciting blend of many traditions, Fire Family Gathering has its roots in a style of fire circle celebration that evolved over the last two decades at magical drum and dance events held in the Northeast U.S. There is no dogma or theology to our gathering; folks of all faiths and traditions are welcome at the Fire.
While the heart of Fire Family Gathering lies in the three midnight-to-dawn Sacred Fire Circles, Fire Family Gathering days are reserved for napping, chatting, and snacking. Spend an afternoon at one of our hands-on workshops, where you have the opportunity to study and share in small groups with some of the finest teachers in the worlds of drumming, dance and magical arts. Or spend a day at the village square, wandering the colorful booths of the merchants, laughing around the warming fire, and witnessing the impromptu community performances of the bardic stage.
