Sound Healing

Sound is a very powerful tool for transformation. Different frequencies, tones and sounds can induce different states to promote healing for the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. On a molecular level, our bodies are systems of vibrating atomic particles. We are living receivers and transmitters of sound vibration. Some researchers claim that each of our organs vibrate at a different frequency. We can use sound frequencies to vibrate matter and promote healing and regeneration of the different body systems. These frequencies also shift etheric patterning to heal the emotional and mental causes of illness.
The ancients of all civilizations used sound in different ways to alter reality. Different kinds of sound can be used to induce trance states and deep relaxation. Sound has also been used to open door ways to other dimensions. Some of the ways sound can be used are chanting toning, harmonic overtones, drums and other instruments, and words of power.

Chanting sacred sounds and words that have deeply ingrained symbolism, such as aum (sound of the universe), kyrie eleison (Lord have mercy), shanti (peace), or the names of gods and goddesses, are often used as means of focusing on the divine to inspire, heal and enlighten. By repeating a sacred word or name over and over, we are continually reminded of the divine, and our focus on spirit becomes more complete. This technique helps the mind to stay on spirit and not wander.
Toning is a technique in which we allow our voice to let out the sounds that release our pain, express our spirits, and rekindle our joy and inner fire. No words are used while toning, only pure sound. The sound can be anything, a held note, a tune, a groan, a scream, sounds of nature, animals, and sometimes a combination of these things. Within our culture, we are often taught to repress our thoughts and feelings, making each of us walled in our own world of pain and suffering. This technique helps people to find the sounds within that will heal themselves and help them to remember their own inner strength and divinity.
Harmonic overtone chanting is a type of sounding that utilizes the natural resonance of the head and body to produce multiple tones simultaneously. The Gyoto monks of Tibet are famous for this type of chanting. Certain sounds are more conducive to overtone chanting than others. One series of sounds that I have found particularly useful is o-o-o-u-u-u-r-r-r-e-e-e-a-a-a-o-o-o. If you slowly go through these sounds at a consistent pitch, after a bit of practice, the over tones will begin to appear. This type of chanting is particularly beneficial for balancing and harmonizing all the subtle bodies with the physical body, as well as connecting you with the multi-dimensional nature of reality. The digeridoo, originating from the aborigine people of Australia, is a musical instrument that creates harmonic overtones. The aborigines use it extensively for their spiritual work.

Another magical sound tool is the drum. In shamanic journeying the drum is used both to anchor and ground the journeyer, as well as to propel them on the journey. The drum can also be used to shake-up and release energies that are stuck in the physical, emotional, or mental body.
Sound in the form of language is a force in our lives. There are words and names that are highly charged with symbolism for each of us that have great power. These words and names, if said with clear, focused intent and power at the right moment can completely shift the energy of what is happening, and shift our perspective on reality. These words are only as powerful as the association you have with them.
It is believed that sound was used extensively for healing and transformation of all kinds In Atlantis. The Temple of Sound was a center for the use and research of sound as a tool, used for everything from healing to teleportation. We are only beginning to scratch the surface of the possibilities sound offers us.

A very powerful method for creating altered states of consciousness or healing through sound is though the use of singing bowls, chimes and gongs. This type of sound heeling has been used for centuries by the people of Asia, in particular, by the Tibetan people.
Singing Bowls can be struck by a mallet, or, you can run a wooden beater along the side of the bowl to produce a sustained tone. You can even place the bowl on a person, and allow the vibrations of the bowl to go into the person. It is quite powerful and effective means of vibrational healing.
